Transworld I come

First off I didn't the passports done like I wanted to do.  Didn't have the money at the right time, so I think I will wait a bit for passports.

Ok, now one to other things.  I am planning on going to Transworld in St. Louis.  I have already set up a hotel at Holiday Inn in St. Louis. So I just need to make plans to go.  Normally the train is my best optins.  takes about 4 hrs from Chicago to St. Louis, but I think it is better than driving.

Passports

When Lisa and I went on our last cruise we just got passport IDs.  We have heard so many stories about people getting standed on the Islands that we decided to get passports.  The problem with the IDs is you can't fly with them.  So to be safe we are getting the passports.   This weekend Katie (G.F. daughter) and I will be geting our passports.  Should take about 8 weeks but then I can check that off the list.  But girlfirend and her youngest daughter still need to get passports.

Wait, Scratch Disney

This weekend Lisa and I were able to sit down and talk about the cruise a little.  Main focus was money and the Port Canaveral excursion.  We had talked about Disney but Lisa pointed out that it didn’t leave us a lot of time to visit such a large park.  So we checked out some of the excursions that Carnival has for Port Canaveral and we knocked it down to the air boat and alligator excursion.  Which is cheaper.  Not sure the teenager will like this but you know how teenagers are..  Anyway, that actually saves us a lot of money.  The trip itself is a lot cheaper than Disney. And I think we will enjoy it.  I guess we will see how it sticks.  We also talked about the excursions for Freeport and Nassau.  I think in Freeport we might go back to the dolphins and in Nassau we might just go back to Blue Lagoon.  Awesome beach.  I think the kids will like it.  But so much to think about and only 585 more days for the trip.

Port Canaveral Excursion

Even though we have a long time to go for our cruise, I always believe to start early.  Get as much information as I can and trying to make it better.  Today we are at the 591 day mark.  I know, long time..  But it is coming, got to get ready.

One of excursions on the cruise we are going to Port Canaveral, Fl to take a trip to Walt DisneyWorld.  If we go with Carnival package, for 4 people would cost roughly 616 bucks.  That is for Disney tickets and shuttle back and forth. (That is 159 for 3 adults and 139 for one child)  So I decided to go another route.  If I buy the tickets from Disney for the day it would be 334 for just tickets.  If I rent a car, that is roughly 50 bucks and then another 14 bucks for parking at Disney.  That is roughly 400 bucks.  Maybe another 20 for gas.  A 200 dollar savings.  I also found out that at work we have a discounted program at Enterprise so now I can upgrade to a larger car.  Which I think is a good idea.  If I find more options on saving money, I would certainly consider those.  We will see.

First Post

I have been getting into the mood for traveling so I thought I would start a blog on the subject.  I think this blog will be for anythig special I do, like going out of state or what not.  We have a cruise come April of 2013 so I was thinking this would help me get my thoughts together.  We have so much to do and I think this will help. We are heading off on the Carnival Pride(pic below) so I certainly will have to get going on that.  Also wanted to say that I got my paperwork done for my passport.  Now, I already have a passport card but we decided that if something bad goes on and we can't get back on the ship, then we are screwed.  So we decided to just get regular passports.
